JAKARTA, PEWARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) recently issued a directive under Official Letter DPR RI No. T/1375/0T/11/2024, which mandates the daily playing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, within the DPR RI complex on each workday.
The decision was made with the goal of fostering a stronger sense of nationalism among DPR employees and members.
This letter, dated November 5, 2024, was addressed to the Secretary-General of DPR RI and signed by Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
The instruction will be implemented starting Thursday, November 7, 2024, and is expected to become a regular part of activities within the DPR complex.
“As an effort to strengthen the spirit of nationalism and unity within DPR RI, I hereby instruct the playing of Indonesia Raya,” reads the letter signed by Dasco.
The anthem will be played daily at 10:00 AM WIB, aligning with the beginning of various scheduled meetings, especially DPR commission meetings that typically start at this hour.
The objective of playing Indonesia Raya is to foster a solemn and nationalistic atmosphere in each activity held within the DPR complex.
Additionally, the directive instructs everyone in the DPR RI building to stand at attention when the anthem is played. This applies to all employees, staff, and even council members present in the area at the time.
Traditionally, Indonesia Raya has been played only before DPR Plenary Sessions, DPD RI Plenary Sessions, or MPR RI Plenary Sessions.
With this new policy, the national anthem will be played more frequently as a daily reminder of nationalism within the DPR RI complex.
