SOLO, PEWARTA.CO.ID – On the evening of Sunday, October 20, 2024, the atmosphere at Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) residence on Gang Kutai Utara 1, Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo, was filled with festive joy as various cultural figures gathered to welcome his return.
Several prominent figures from the traditional wayang orang (Javanese theatrical performance) community, along with a keroncong music group, were present to celebrate Jokowi’s homecoming. The celebration marked the end of Jokowi’s term as the President of Indonesia, as he and First Lady Iriana returned to their family home.
Among the welcoming crowd were several high-ranking state officials, including the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Agus Subianto. Their presence, alongside the local cultural figures and residents, added a solemn and heartfelt touch to the welcome event.
In addition, former Central Java Regional Police Chief, Ahmad Luthfi, also attended and expressed his admiration for the warm reception from the people. He was struck by the extraordinary enthusiasm shown by the public, which exceeded his expectations.
"The community's welcome this time was truly beyond expectation. Pak Jokowi's journey from Adi Soemarmo Airport to his residence even took nearly four hours because so many people wanted to greet him," Ahmad Luthfi told ANTARA.
Ahmad Luthfi went on to note that this enthusiasm clearly demonstrated Jokowi’s close bond with the people. People from various regions traveled to Solo to pay their respects to the former president, who remains deeply loved by his fellow citizens.
"The people are proud of Pak Jokowi. This is proof of the extraordinary love the community has for him," Luthfi added.
Besides the residents of Solo, people from neighboring regions such as Magetan and Ngawi also joined in to witness Jokowi's return. This showed that Jokowi’s influence and the love for him extended beyond Solo, particularly into parts of East Java.
"That’s a leader who is always beloved by the people," said Luthfi.
Upon arriving at his residence, Jokowi and Iriana were warmly greeted by residents who had been waiting eagerly. The couple took time to shake hands with the local community, and Jokowi waved to the crowd, who had been patiently waiting for his arrival since the afternoon.
The welcoming event was filled with joy and accompanied by the melodious tunes of keroncong music, enhancing the traditional and local atmosphere. This touch of cultural heritage added to the heartfelt reception for the leader who had remained close to the people’s hearts throughout his presidency.
