PEWARTA.CO.ID - A positive atmosphere filled the first training session of the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) in Bahrain. The Garuda squad confidently expressed their optimism for securing a victory against the host nation.
The Indonesian National Team is set to face Bahrain in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for the Asia Zone. The match will take place at the Bahrain National Stadium on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the evening WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
Indonesia brings a solid foundation heading into this match. The Garuda squad managed to collect two points from their first two games, drawing against strong Asian teams—Saudi Arabia and Australia.
The team arrived in Bahrain on Sunday, October 6, 2024, in the afternoon WIB. By the evening, Shin Tae-yong’s players were already holding their first training session at the Ministry of Youth and Sports complex in Bahrain.
In this initial training session, the players exhibited a positive atmosphere, despite experiencing some jetlag after their long journey from Jakarta. This uplifting vibe was evident from a video uploaded on the official social media account of the Indonesian National Team. The training was attended by players who are currently competing in Liga 1, Indonesia's top domestic football league.
Additionally, three players from European clubs were also seen joining the session. These players include Thom Haye, Sandy Walsh, and Ivar Jenner, all of whom had already arrived in Bahrain.
Several Indonesian National Team players expressed their confidence that they could return home with full points from this away game in Bahrain.
“Good. Happy to be here,” said Thom Haye. “The first training session was good. The guys were cheerful and, of course, ready to compete,” added goalkeeper Ernando Ari.
"Everything is going smoothly. We're enthusiastic and optimistic," said Marselino Ferdinan. "We are preparing for the match against Bahrain. We will win," declared Ivar Jenner.
