PEWARTA.CO.ID – Adi Prayitno, a political analyst from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, shared his thoughts on the potential members of the cabinet under President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

According to Adi, the majority of the ministers and deputy ministers chosen by the pair are expected to be professionals in their respective fields. He emphasized that most of these individuals already have clear track records and performance records that can be observed by the public.

“This is because many of them come from the political elite, who are currently serving as ministers or are active in public organizations,” said Adi.

“If we look on average, generally, the ministerial and deputy ministerial candidates already have visible track records and performances, as they are mostly party elites, consisting of ministers, professionals who are currently serving as ministers, or from organizations whose work can be evaluated and proven,” Adi explained in a statement quoted by ANTARA on Thursday, October 18, 2024.

Furthermore, Adi expressed hope that these candidates would be placed in roles that align with their expertise. He believes that this could form a "zaken cabinet"—a cabinet comprised of ministers from professional backgrounds, not just political appointees.

“We shouldn't place someone who knows nothing about education in charge of the education sector. A zaken cabinet is more about the 'right man in the right place,' putting ministers in positions that match their skills and abilities,” he added.

However, Adi acknowledged that there are some cabinet candidates who are relatively new and lack a political track record. He cited public figures such as entertainer Raffi Ahmad and religious preacher Gus Miftah, who have no prior experience in government roles.

Nonetheless, Adi emphasized that time will reveal whether these individuals can fulfill their duties effectively or not.

“We must admit that it's just a matter of checking whether those whose track records are not visible—those with no prior political experience—can actually perform or not. Time will tell everything,” he concluded.

After being elected President of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto began the process of summoning potential ministers and deputy ministers to form his cabinet. The selection process took place over two days, on October 14 and 15, 2024, at Prabowo's residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta.

On the first day, 49 individuals were summoned as potential ministers. They consisted of political party cadres, academics, bureaucrats, entrepreneurs, and human rights activists. The following day, Prabowo summoned an additional 59 individuals as potential deputy ministers and heads of governmental bodies.
