PEWARTA.CO.ID - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed optimism that Indonesia's economy will experience stronger growth during the presidency of Prabowo Subianto, the newly elected president, who is set to be inaugurated shortly.

This statement was made by President Jokowi during the inauguration of the Amanah Youth Creative Hub building in Aceh Besar, Aceh, on Tuesday.

Jokowi highlighted that Indonesia’s economic growth in 2023 was recorded at 5.08 percent, with projections suggesting it will remain above five percent in 2024.

However, he emphasized that Indonesia is currently navigating through global economic uncertainties. He pointed out two main challenges: firstly, the global economy is expected to grow by only 2.6 or 2.7 percent in 2023 and between 2.7 to 2.8 percent in 2024.

"Many countries have slipped into a recession, developed countries have slipped into a recession," Jokowi explained.

Secondly, Jokowi underscored that geopolitical uncertainties, fueled by conflicts between nations such as Israel and Palestine, and Israel and Lebanon, pose additional challenges.

Adding to the global instability is the looming threat of climate change, marked by severe weather events, including storms and extreme heat, Jokowi remarked.

These global challenges have intensified competition between nations, Jokowi noted.

"To this end, for us to be able to compete with other countries, the key is creating excellent human resources," he emphasized.

Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka are set to be inaugurated as the President and Vice President of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 term on October 20, 2024, at the Nusantara Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

President Jokowi has confirmed his attendance at the inauguration ceremony.

Prabowo and Gibran emerged victorious in the 2024 Presidential Election, securing 96,214,691 votes, which accounts for 58.59 percent of the valid votes.
