PEWARTA.CO.ID – The Secretary-General of the NasDem, Hermawi Taslim, clarified the recent meeting between NasDem Chairman Surya Paloh and President-Elect Prabowo Subianto.
Hermawi explained that the meeting was not related to cabinet formation, but rather a simple courtesy visit.
In a statement to reporters in Jakarta on Thursday, Hermawi stated that the meeting focused on discussing various national dynamics that are currently unfolding.
“It was a national courtesy call, discussing various current national dynamics,” said Hermawi, referring to the meeting that took place at the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan RI) office in Jakarta.
Hermawi also added that Surya Paloh took the opportunity to extend birthday greetings to Prabowo, who was celebrating his 73rd birthday at the time.
Surya Paloh arrived at the Ministry of Defense at 14:12 WIB in a black Lexus with license plate number B 1788 ASC. Shortly after his arrival, other party leaders also began to arrive at the venue. PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan and Acting President of PKS Ahmad Heryawan were among those who followed after.
However, before other party leaders arrived, including Golkar Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia, who arrived around 14:50 WIB, Surya Paloh's vehicle had already left the location.
Not long after, PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar and Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) also arrived at the Ministry of Defense.
Inside the Ministry, these political party leaders gathered with Gerindra’s Daily Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad for a meeting that lasted approximately two hours.
Around 16:00 WIB, the political figures began to leave the Ministry of Defense building, most of them exiting through the front entrance facing Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. However, Muhaimin chose to exit through the back gate, which faces Jalan Abdul Muis.
When asked why Surya Paloh left the location earlier than the others, Hermawi explained that the NasDem Chairman’s presence had been scheduled by Prabowo’s protocol team.
Hermawi also added that Surya Paloh needed to return quickly to NasDem Tower to host other guests.
