Janice Tjen Fights Back to Reach Guadalajara Open Round of 16

PEWARTA.CO.ID — Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen recovered from a tightly contested opening set to defeat Czech Republic's Dominika Vidmanova 7-6(6), 6-2 in the Guadalajara Open presented by Santander on Monday.
The victory sent Janice into the round of 16 at the WTA 500 tournament, where she is the fifth seed. The hard-court match lasted one hour and 34 minutes, according to WTA records.
Janice wins a tense opening set
Janice faced a close battle in the first set, with neither player able to break the deadlock before the score reached 6-6.
The set went to a tie-break, where Janice held her nerve to secure an 8-6 win and take the early advantage.
She then produced a stronger performance in the second set. After the score reached 2-2, Janice broke Vidmanova's serve and maintained control until closing out the match 6-2.
Janice served 10 aces during the contest and won 66 of the 125 points played. She also converted two of three break-point opportunities.
A positive response after US Open exit
The Guadalajara victory gives Janice a strong response following her singles campaign at the 2026 US Open.
In New York, she was eliminated in the first round after losing 2-6, 2-6 to fifth seed Mirra Andreeva.
Janice later continued at the US Open in women's doubles alongside Canada's Leylah Fernandez. The pair opened with a straight-sets 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ineke Haverlag of the Netherlands and Nina Radisic of Slovenia.
Their run ended in the second round, when they lost 4-6, 4-6 to the ninth-seeded team featuring Indonesia's Aldila Sutjiadi and New Zealand's Erin Routliffe.
Janice awaits next opponent
Janice's next opponent in Guadalajara will come from the other round-of-32 match between France's Carole Monet and American Sloane Stephen.
Her win over Vidmanova keeps her campaign moving at a tournament where she entered as the fifth seed.
