PEWARTA.CO.ID — Jakarta is stepping up preparations to host the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, with the city government promising full support for the tournament while Indonesia targets a strong performance on home soil.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the provincial government is committed to ensuring participants and football fans have a safe and comfortable experience during the international competition.
“Jakarta is ready to be a good host. Jakarta is being prepared as a sports-friendly city and a sports tourism destination,” Pramono said in Jakarta.
He described the FIFA ASEAN Cup as an important event for the capital and pledged full support for its implementation, while expressing hope that the Indonesian national team would emerge as champion.
Jakarta focuses on safety and transport
The Jakarta administration is also prioritizing security, comfort and mobility during the tournament, including support for teams, participants and spectators.
Pramono said transportation facilities and other assistance would be prepared according to operational needs.
“The most important thing is that everyone competing in Jakarta feels safe and comfortable. Everything is becoming easier, and we will fully support transportation. If other assistance is needed, we are ready to provide it,” he said.
The preparations are part of Jakarta's broader effort to strengthen its image as a city that supports sports and sports tourism.
Erick Thohir targets a successful tournament
PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir welcomed the support from Jakarta and other stakeholders involved in preparations for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026.
He thanked FIFA, the President of Indonesia and the Jakarta provincial government for their backing, noting that the country is once again receiving an opportunity to stage a major FIFA event after previously hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
“God willing, thank you for the support from FIFA, the President and the Governor. After previously hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup, we now have another opportunity to organize the FIFA ASEAN Cup, which will run from September 25 to October 5,” Erick said.
He added that Indonesia should aim to be a strong host while hoping the national team can achieve its best result.

The FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 trophy and a giant tournament football were also introduced to the public as part of promotional activities ahead of the competition.
The event brought together football organizers, sports communities and members of the public, with representatives from PSSI and the Jakarta provincial government also in attendance.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency head Andri Yansah represented the provincial government, while security authorities included Colonel Inf. Bima Santosa, head of the Jaya Military Command Physical Training Department, and Metro Jaya Police Chief Komjen Pol. Asep Edi Suheri.
14 nations set for the tournament

With the tournament approaching, Jakarta and PSSI are continuing efforts to build a positive atmosphere ahead of the opening matches.
The “Roll To Glory FIFA ASEAN CUP™ Family Parade” is one of the initiatives encouraging the public to take part in the tournament's build-up.
For Jakarta, a successful hosting performance is a major priority. For Indonesia, public support is expected to provide additional motivation for the national team as it competes on home soil, with the ambition summed up by Pramono Anung: Indonesia should become champion.
